I thought I’d never lose you.
Though I never had you
20 some years of a friendship
With all it’s ups and downs
Getting to know each other
Even through the physical distance
I would think that we would stick around
You were my Sister
My Confident
But there were clues
I guess I was just too blind
Or I didn’t care
Thinking back
You said you would never return
Even though I might need you
I’ve learned since then
That when you truly love someone
With all your heart and soul
There’s nothing you wouldn’t do
No where you wouldn’t go
The lost sheep are waiting
And it is entirely possible
to lose them again and again
And so you go after them
Because they are family
They are a part of heaven
Heaven is lonely without them
When they are not there
So what was it?
All that time?
20 plus years?
Did you really need a friend?
Because your life was dull?
Uninterested?
Forsaken in his affection for you?
According to what you knew about faith
You had the chance to leave him
Find someone else
A man who truly loved you
Who lived in the faith and the love
That you always preached
You prayed and cried for a man to
come to know
The Truth, The Way, and The Life.
But he never did
And you knew he would stay
And so would you
Because you were a queen
in a king’s court
I was just your chosen fool
Yes, I was blinded by both your beauty and your charm
Your fire red hair just attracted me
Pretty much like a moth to a flame
But slowly, ever so cautiously
You consumed me
All that time, I was a fly caught in your web
A love’s appearance
Never changes
It doesn’t go from White to Black
Nor from red to white
No matter the years
Oh it was all my fault.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire
they say
I had a lesson to learn
You never ever give up on your partner
No matter who they are
No matter how lost they are
